tanks optimizing irrigation eco-sustainability

Particular attention has been given to the design of water storage tanks, which are unique in their combination of traditional forms and technological innovation, merging functional rationality with aesthetic sensibility. The tanks were inspired by the idea of ancient “gebbie,” commonly used in rural southern Italy. Their shape allows for modularity, enabling them to be “interlocked” with each other even on sloping terrain. This design ensures that once the uppermost tank is filled, the water flows down and fills the lower tanks through gravitational force. These tanks, with the main one positioned upstream of the entire property and directly supplied with water from the source, are intended to integrate harmoniously with the landscape morphology as much as possible. The project envisions that the visible parts of the tanks, those emerging from the ground, will be adorned with fragmented majolica tiles arranged in a mosaic pattern. This further enhances their aesthetic integration within the surroundings.
