Via in Rose Estate:
farm productions
Hortus Gymnasium has organized on-site processing of its agricultural products to increase their market value. Next to the cold greenhouse, a small workshop was built and equipped to accommodate:
- a glass bottling line in multiple formats, equipped with a capper and label. This facilitates the valorization of olive production through the transformation into extra virgin olive oil, in collaboration with Frantoio Caloiero in Luzzi (CS). The olive oil is then bottled in small sizes (25 and 50 cl) for export, in collaboration with Giovi s.r.l., a company specializing in the production and marketing of wines and spirits, located in Valdina (Me). The majority of the product used for processing comes from within the estate (always exceeding 60% of the total), and any external contributions are sourced from neighboring producers operating under control measures equivalent to those of the estate;
- equipment for wine grape processing, including a press, stainless steel barrels, casks, and accessories;
- a label printer for container and plant identification;
- an innovative biomass processing system for medicinal herbs, including extraction and bottling of essential oils. This system consists of a Drago Pro 150 lt Albrigi distiller, equipped with a steel basket for loading and unloading agricultural products, a Florentine vessel for collecting the distillate, and a thermal energy recovery kit to reduce electricity consumption. The distiller is constructed entirely of AISI 304 stainless steel, with a modulating steam generator that allows for production variations based on the type of plant and desired output. The boiler is well-insulated to minimize thermal losses and enhance the quality of the end product. Essential oils are extracted from biomass collected on the estate or produced by nearby companies under direct supervision.
