Via in Rose Estate:
ring pathways for completed gardens

In 2016, the design and construction of internal pedestrian pathways were carried out, consisting of compacted trails and perimeter pathways for the gardens, covering a total length of 850 linear meters. These pathways are made in an opus incertum style of the “pietra chiara”, a light-colored stone sourced from the San Lucido quarry. It is a local material commonly used in the facades of ancient and prestigious buildings. To identify the dominant color of the plants’ appearance (flowers, branches, foliage, or fruits) within and around each enclosed garden, ceramic and glass cement confetti were embedded within the opus incertum. The confetti colors correspond to: blue/violet, orange/yellow, red, white, and green. As you stroll along the pathway made of opus incertum, you will come across randomly scattered ceramic and glass cement inserts of the corresponding color for each Hortus: Glaucus, Aureus, Rubrus, Niveus, and Viridis. This design element aims to emphasize the dominant color scheme of the plants within that specific area.
