Hortus Gymnasium has made a substantial investment in renewable energy production and aims to become completely self-sufficient in its energy consumption, relying solely on renewable sources. In 2008, the company that owns the estate allowed the installation of a photovoltaic system on the roofs of existing buildings within the agricultural estate. The energy generated by this system is used to power all the machinery involved in processing, agricultural transportation, and crop transformation activities within the estate. Efforts have been made to minimize processing activities and rationalize them using electric-powered tools, which also reduce emissions into the atmosphere. All planned equipment purchases, whether tested or experimental, exclusively focus on battery-powered electric machines. This approach allows Hortus Gymnasium to contribute to the reduction of polluting emissions that contribute to the greenhouse effect.
