Via in Rose Estate:
mixed ring borders for completed gardens
The mixed ring borders in the completed gardens are 2 meters deep and consist of three bands of different plant types. The outer band is composed of shrubby species, the middle band features tufted plants, and the inner band consists of perennial herbaceous plants. All the borders include medicinal plants that will be used in the extraction of essential oils in the laboratory. Each plant in the border will be accompanied by specific labeling. The presence of rare plants and the production of essential oils create an important field of interest and study, which has been established and is supervised by the Chair of Pharmaceutical Botany at the University of Salerno. The scientific information provided by the plant documentation will make the areas designated for “chromatic gardens” similar to a botanical garden, aesthetically captivating and culturally rich in stimuli and features that allow the development of entertainment and educational potential. Visitors will enjoy a pleasant visit in a context rich in colors and rare examples of Calabrian flora.
